Trouble reading Digging? Try clearing your cache

A reader told me today that she was having difficulty reading Digging in the Safari browser. My blog posts were loading glitchy and jumpy, she said. I advised clearing the cache on her device. She did, and — presto! — the problem went away. So I want to share that recommendation here in case anyone else is having the same problem. If you don’t know how to clear your cache, just Google “how to clear the cache on my iPad” or whatever kind of device you’re using. Clear your cache and reload Digging, and hopefully any glitchiness will be gone*. Happy holidays, y’all!
*Clearing your cache may log you out of any websites you were logged into, so make sure you’re not in the middle of a purchase or anything. Having to re-login is a minor inconvenience for the joy of seeing a glitchy website working smoothly again. For more info about clearing the cache, see this helpful article on zapier.com.

Hi Pam. Interesting you should post about this. I use Apple mail and for quite a while now none of your photos would load when I received your email newsletter. So I have to click to read the article on your website to view your beautiful photos! I wonder if anyone else has this problem? And good to remind people to clear their browsing history: I do this every time I click out of my browser – it’s incredible how many websites leave stuff (caches and local storage etc) on your computer. I got into this habit a long time ago.
Hi Jude, thanks for sharing this. You are not the only one who has this trouble (photos not loading) with my subscription emails on an Apple device. In fact, I wrote a blog post about it last year: https://www.penick.net/digging/?p=87125. You’ve already discovered the solution: clicking over to my blog to view my posts, where the photos are revealed. I really appreciate your willingness to take that extra step to keep up with Digging — thank you!
And by the way, YOUR photos are stunning! I just enjoyed each one in your portfolio.
