Botanical beauties in Patrick Puckett’s Western Civ. exhibition

Whenever Mississippi artist Patrick Puckett has an exhibition in the Austin area, I’ll go see it. I’m a fan of his richly colored, botanical-background portraits — women, mostly, who gaze straight out of the frame at the viewer.

Puckett’s new show, Western Civ., is at Wally Workman Gallery through July 28th. I visited on the morning it opened, before the opening reception, and most of the works were already sold. He is popular in Austin!

Here are my favorites, a mix of oil on canvas and mixed media on paper.

If you’re in the Austin area this month, go see it. You can follow Patrick Puckett on Instagram too.
