I’m on Cultivating Place talking about growing community, coping with climate change, and my fave plants

September 04, 2022

This week I’m on the acclaimed podcast Cultivating Place: Natural History & the Human Impulse to Garden, talking with host Jennifer Jewell about building a gardening community, how I got into gardening, my Garden Spark speaker series, gardening in the challenging conditions of Central Texas, coping with climate change, meeting Lady Bird Johnson one time, and my top 5 plants for Austin gardens. I hope you’ll take a listen!

Here’s the link to my interview at Cultivating Place, which runs approximately 50 minutes.

My thanks to Jennifer for her interest in my work and for having me on her show! Check out Jennifer’s terrific books, if you don’t know them: The Earth in Her Hands and Under Western Skies. Next week, Jennifer will be back in Austin (virtually) to air her interview with Barton Springs Nursery owners Amy Hovis and Willy Glenn. Barton Springs Nursery has long been my go-to nursery, especially for native plants, and it’s also the generous sponsor of my Garden Spark talks, so I’m eager to hear Amy and Willy’s interview with Jennifer.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my thoughts about gardening, my friends!
