Conga line flowers get up & dance!
May 25, 2010
In the garden last evening, observing flowers glowing in gaudy party colors, I imagined them to be at Carnival.
Purple coneflowers dance in a conga line.
Mexican flame vine does a samba.
It takes two to tango, as plains coreopsis illustrates.
Purple skullcap does the merengue.
Observing from the height of the upper patio, you might not notice the lively goings-on below. The garden looks serene.
But up close? Cha cha cha!

I like that overall view. Like you said sometimes you can’t see all that is going on in the garden with an overview. However if you slow down and look close you see lots of smoldering color.
Hmm, looks like you have a case of spring gardening fever…
Beautiful flowers, Pam! I smiled when imagined them dancing. I hope they behave at night.
What an adorable dance! Love the Mexican Flame Vine, color is so vibrant.
Talk about ‘dancing with the stars’! How on earth do you get the flame vine to grow? I have had no success and the one i bought last year died over the winter. I knew it was a risk.
Mexican flame vine is new to my garden; I bought two about a month ago and planted them in sun, on a slope, with wire to support them. I expect them to be annuals. —Pam
Your flame vine looks great. My flame vine looks like %^&* and it has spots. Didn’t do well there last year either, but I thought I’d give it a second chance. Who knows! All your carnival colors are lovely. They really are my favorites.
Well, I thought I heard music coming from your place but wasn’t sure…. Considering all that goes on in the garden whether or not we are there to witness, I am thinking flowers dancing can’t be all that far off the mark. And given all the wind we’ve had lately, my flowers have been dancing around in pretty lively fashion every time I’ve looked!
Charming!
I wonder if that Mexican flame vine would grow in Sacramento? It is beautiful!
Great angel on the cone-flower shot!
I liked the conga! I have never seen Mexican Flame…it is so pretty! Your backyard looks very inviting and relaxing. I like all the cool, blue colors!
Love the pale purple chairs near your pool and the intensity of your colorful garden flowers. gail
