November walk at Lady Bird Lake
A perfect fall day calls for a walk around Lady Bird Lake, so on Sunday there I was, at Lou Neff Point, viewing Austin’s mushrooming skyline and the towering Jenga building.
Taking the U-turn trail around Barton Creek, I paused to admire the green spring water and golden needles of a bald cypress.
The historic Lamar Bridge seems to skip across the lake like a tossed stone.
A paddleboat came chugging along, and I wondered for a moment if it would fit under the bridge. It did.
Crossing the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge gave me a closer view of the Jenga tower. A little farther along, a band was playing for passersby.
In the Pfluger Bridge Circle, shadows make a monochromatic garden beneath cyclists’ wheels and joggers’ shoes.
Fall color has started. It seems a little early this year, doesn’t it? Must be thanks to that early frost we had.
Golden needles and blue water
Texas palmetto glows with dappled light beneath a stately bald cypress.
Live a Great Story, friends.
I’m looking forward to the next gorgeous fall day at the lake. #notmissingsummer

Beautiful photos and words! Thank you.
Thanks, Sharon! I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
I’m very impressed by those skyline shots! They’re very different from the dirty gray cloak I see hanging over the skyline I view on a daily basis.
It was a crisp, clear day with a beautiful blue sky. An autumn sky, very different from our often hazy summer skies.
Beautiful photos. I’m on that path all the time- I appreciate your perspective!
Thanks, Leslie. I’m glad you enjoyed the photos!
Thank you so much, Pam, for taking me along on your walk! The “new” Austin, it’s truly amazing, isn’t it? But the trees and the water haven’t changed much – still beautiful!
Very beautiful. I’m always thankful to Lady Bird Johnson for her vision and leadership in planting the shoreline with trees and creating the hike-and-bike trail, which we now get to enjoy. You’d never know it was all bare shoreline just a few decades ago. https://austin.towers.net/a-history-of-austins-famous-hike-and-bike-trail-which-wasnt-always-green/
