Gardening with eyes and heart: Look for my articles in fall issue of Country Gardens
I’m delighted to share that I have two articles in the current issue of Country Gardens (Fall 2019), a terrific magazine packed with design inspiration and the stories of homeowner-gardeners who have vision, enthusiasm, and a love of plants.
The Gardener’s Eye: Michael Gordon’s garden in New Hampshire
I interviewed Peterborough, New Hampshire, gardener and optometrist Michael Gordon for the article “The Gardener’s Eye” (page 58) and shared how he tamed his steeply sloping lot, defined garden rooms, and gave his cold-climate garden plenty of winter interest.
Garden with Heart: Janet Kayser-Johnson’s garden in Portland
And on page 74, you can read my article “Garden with Heart” about the creative, colorful, tropical-esque garden of Janet Kayser-Johnson and Eric Johnson in Portland, Oregon. It’s one of the magazine’s 21st Annual Garden Awards winners — deservedly so!
Subscribe to keep gardening magazines in print
I hope you’ll pick up a copy on the newsstand or, even better, subscribe today to help Country Gardens keep showcasing stunning homegrown gardens like these. And if you’d like to enter your own garden in the 22nd Annual Garden Awards, the deadline is September 30. You’ll find the details on page 9 of the current issue.

Yep, I have already read them. Quite good too. I do like this magazine. I think they have made some improvements. Not so many repeats.
Ever since I realized the magazine is not just for gardeners out in the country — it’s for everyone and covers all kinds of gardens — I’ve loved reading it. And I’m honored to be writing for it.
I treat myself to something small every month so maybe it’s time for me to subscribe to Country Gardens. I saw the piece on your own garden in their magazine. Very nice.
Ah, thanks, Laura! And yes, the magazine would be a great little self-treat for any gardener.
Loved both of those articles, Pam. My goodness, I don’t know how you manage all that you do. Your coverage of the Denver Bloggers Fling was outstanding!
Aw, thanks, Janelle! I’m happy to know that you enjoyed my Denver Fling coverage too. 🙂
