We were lucky not to have suffered any significant damage after the hailstorm and windstorm last night, though many of our neighbors were not so fortunate. Large limbs and tree trunks litter the yards two houses away in both directions, and whole trees lie in ruins elsewhere in the neighborhood. I am typing to the buzz of chainsaws in nearby yards. In my garden only the American beautyberry and the water lilies in the pond were shredded by the hail; everything else came through it pretty well. The upside is that we received 3 1/2 inches of rain!
