Poppies popping at The Natural Gardener nursery
On the hunt at The Natural Gardener nursery yesterday, my eyes popped wide when I spotted rows of magenta poppies near the herb garden. Shazam!
Thunderstorms rolled in overnight, and I wonder if the fragile poppies still stand this morning. I’m so glad to have seen them before the rain.

OOOoooooo, can’t wait to see some of this dramatic color washing over our area.
I bet it won’t be long, Lisa. —Pam
I love poppies! As if the plant itself is not dramatic enough, the flowers are beautiful. And then you get those wonderful architectural seedpods! I used to grow them here in Houston, putting in plantlets in fall. It was always so thrilling to see the large developing flower pod lifting up to face the sky and open! I hope seeing all those beautiful poppies there at the nursery gave others a love of them and a desire to grow them!
The poppy is a beautiful plant in all of its parts, I agree. —Pam
Those are stunning. I do love poppies, and planted en masse like this they are even better! Love that you have chosen this image for the Facebook group.
They were too pretty not to share! —Pam
Love those poppies! Great thing is that even if they do drop their petals with the rain, the seed pods are also lovely.
I love the seedpods. They’re wonderful in a vase, too, once they’ve dried. —Pam
When I see poppies, I always think of the wicked witch of the west saying ” poppies” .
Me too, Shirley. A formative movie of our childhoods, I think. —Pam
