Round Top charms Texas style
On the way home from the Antique Rose Emporium last weekend, Mom and I detoured to Round Top to see my friend Ryann Ford‘s antiques and homegoods shop, Townsend Provisions. We arrived right as the town was closing down, and as we strolled the main square, I kept saying to myself, How come I didn’t know this was here?
The tiny town, as many Texans know, is filled bumper-to-bumper in spring and fall for the Round Top Antiques Fair. It’s quieter in the off season but still filled with charming shops, country homes (including vacation rentals), a few home-style restaurants, and a wine bar with patio seating.
I’m definitely going to come back sometime this fall or winter to see everything.

I’m definitely going to go back, with sister and mom in tow for a girls’ day out, if I can manage it. —Pam
When you visit, be sure to see the herb gardens at Festival Hill. Madeline Hill created a masterpiece there, and Henry Flowers is maintaining it well.
I’m glad to know about it, Peter. And Henry Flowers sounds like a perfect gardener’s name. —Pam
This has a kind of New Englandy feel about it…one of those destinations I wish were closer.
The bottom two houses certainly do, Ricki. The top one, the garden shop, is all Texas. —Pam
Looks like a great destination and I look forward to reading more about it when you visit again!
My hoped-for fall trip is falling apart, Peter. But hopefully I’ll get back before next summer! —Pam
