Podcast interview with KUT’s Jennifer Stayton at Holy Grounds
Last Wednesday, KUT’s “Morning Edition” host Jennifer Stayton interviewed me for a podcast as part of the Coffee with the Author series at Holy Grounds, a coffee shop/bookstore/gift shop located downtown in St. David’s Episcopal Church. I was honored to join their author series, which is held at noon on the first Wednesday of each month. Holy Grounds serves breakfast and lunch, so it’s easy to grab a bite to eat while listening to Jennifer’s conversations with the authors. (She records the podcast just before the public interview and Q&A with the audience.)
To listen to the 12-minute podcast I did with Jennifer, click here. The topic? The why and how of water-saving gardening, of course!
I arrived a little early and was delighted to see a table set up at the entrance (top photo) with my books and other titles about water-thrifty gardening, notecards adorned with succulents, and colorful food cans potted with succulents. How fun! Naturally I had to do a little shopping myself before meeting Jennifer for the podcast.
Aren’t these cute? Aside from the garden-themed display, Holy Grounds has a great selection of unusual and pretty gift items, plus shelves of books to peruse.
The audience Q&A and book-signing afterward went really well. My thanks to all the folks who spent their lunch hour with us, asked great questions, and/or bought a book, including these three special friends: Kim, Jennifer, and Anna, the manager of Holy Grounds, whom I’ve known since our daughters were in kindergarten together. Thanks also to the Holy Grounds and St. David’s staff and Jennifer Stayton, for making me feel so welcome and including me in their lineup!

You, coffee, books, and a cute shop……..a perfect mix. I really do need to live in Austin!!! I’m loving your book that I bought at Zilker!!! And, so sad to hear about Moby :-(((
Aw, thanks, Carol. I’m so glad to know you’re enjoying the book! As for Moby, he’s such a ham — I really think he’s basking in all this attention, waving his flukes in contentment. —Pam
