Watch my teaser trailer for The Water-Saving Garden

December 28, 2015

In-between Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Joy, Spotlight, and your other big-screen viewings this week, take 60 secs to watch my fun new book trailer for The Water-Saving Garden. I packed as much eye candy as I could into it, so enjoy! You’ll even see a couple of photos I really wanted to include in my book but didn’t have room for, like the duck “diving” into a succulent planter.

Happy New Year, friends!

  4. Kris P says:

I’m looking forward to the book Pam! The promo is well done!

  5. Hey, I recognize a couple of those gardens! Can’t wait to see the book Pam, though with nearly 15″ of rain this month (a new record) I can’t say I’m feeling too keen on saving any of it.

That’s how Texas has been for much of this year. But drought always returns here, and I know Portland typically has very dry summers, even if the rest of the year is rainy. Portland was actually pretty inspirational to me while I was writing this book. The city seems very proactive in promoting rain gardens, curb cuts, and other water-saving gardening techniques to keep runoff out of storm drains, which can be easily overwhelmed during heavy rains. My book addresses both reasons for creating a water-saving garden: drought and runoff management. —Pam

I think your trailer is intriguing enough to make me minimally pick up the book and peruse it to decide whether it would feature enough inspirational eye candy to make purchasing it worthwhile. My impression from the trailer is this is an ornamental gardener’s book rather than a vegetable gardener’s book. Also, I found myself rewinding (not the right word these days!) the trailer to reread the captions. I’m not sure if it was the color of the font, the font itself, or the length of the text. I think a voice over might have been nicer. especially if it was the author (you). Nice pictures, by the way!

I’m glad you’re intrigued, Rachelle. That’s my goal with the trailer. To answer your question, yes, the book is about saving water in ornamental gardens, with a focus on practical, DIY-friendly techniques and eye candy from beautiful, yet attainable gardens. —Pam

I’m 72 and had no trouble at all reading the captions.
Love the pictures – I’m wondering about the picture of the cat – looks like he’s sitting on a mirror? Or a very shallow pond, but I can’t believe that. Does the book tell how to do that one?

      • Pam/Digging says:

I love the garden with the mirror “pond” (and the cat sitting on it), and am glad it caught your eye too, Judy! You’ll find more info about creating a similar illusion in Part Four of the book, which is titled, “Oasis or Mirage? Creating the Illusion of Water in the Garden.” —Pam

  7. Wendy says:

Looks absolutely beautiful, Pam! Can’t wait to read it! 😉

    Wonderfully done!

That was a creative way to promote the book, but I am still going to see Star Wars.

Looking forward to it. Great shot of the sea holly. That was the most water-thrifty plant in my garden this past summer here.

I know the book will be brilliant. Who knew you could also produce a snappy trailer? Happy New Year!

  15. Shirley says:

Looks great! Looking forward to reading it.

Will there be an event like the Natural Gardener talk?
