Pink star

August 10, 2007

Sharing top billing with the American beautyberry, the ‘Duchess of Albany’ clematis is the star of the late-summer garden. Here she is, posing for the paparazzo (me) on the red carpet.
I just hope she won’t let stardom go to her head, like so many young beauties these days. At least I know she’s keeping her feet planted firmly on the ground.

She is pretty in her two-tone pink outfit. I’m sure some bee will be along soon!

Just gorgeous, clematis is so romantic.

  3. She’ll be okay, Pam – just don’t let the glamorous young royal have the keys to your car ;-]

  4. She is a beauty! I haven’t had the privilege of meeting this one before. Thanks for introducing us.

Not only are you a fantastic gardener and a great photographer, you’re witty too! 🙂
The Dutchess is beautiful, and looking quite humble, still. I’ll have to be on the look out for this one. I have a similar one (but more purple) named Carnaby that keeps putting out a few flowers all summer after it’s springtime bounty of blooms. It makes new plants by toeing itself in, whereas the Jackmanii doesn’t. I’ve been able to share the Carnaby with a friend.

    Thanks for your comments, everybody.
Kerri, I try. I’m glad I didn’t come off as hopelessly goofy, at least not to everyone. 😉 Your Carnaby sounds very nice too. —Pam
