I discovered a climbing rose on a neighbor’s fence the other day, one I’d never noticed before. It looks a lot like your Dortmund. I’ll have to take a picture for comparison!
I look forward to seeing what Mucho Macho looks like in bloom. I bought a Manfreda maculosa at a local plant sale recently and it’s odd but cool.
Impressive mangave. I’m curious–Does the plant (or at least the flowering growth) die after it’s done flowering? Agaves I’ve seen and grown seem to to do that, but I’m not familiar with this intergeneric. Two local gardeners have told me that it does not die after blooming, although one said hers never looked quite as good afterward. —Pam
The first photo is gorgeous Pam! A great rose color….I wonder if Macho’s flower will be a giant version of the Manfreda virginica we have here? gail I don’t know, Gail. I’m looking forward to finding out what they look like. —Pam
I wonder how tall the spike will reach. Will the flowers be yellow?
Aiyana I don’t know, Aiyana, but I’ll be sure to post pics—if I can reach them! —Pam
Isn’t it amazing! I’m showing my aloe and it’s moving on up!

Well, it seems your Dortmund is dutiful! And beautiful. Love that vivid color and the great photo. She sure looks happy in your new garden.
That is going to an awesome sight when it blooms. My son is 6 feet tall. That is pretty tall!
I love that first photo Pam. The Macho is about to do something other than rise it looks to me.
