Shoshana’s iris
Glazed pots pick up the cobalt blue from the bottle tree. You don’t need flowers for eye-popping color.
Looking to the right, up the path back to the house, red ‘Valentine’ is blooming.
Looking through the trellis screen toward the greenhouse/shed
True blue may be rare in flowers but readily available in glass bottles, glazed pots, or house paint. Actually, the greenhouse/shed is really a grapey purple, but in this photo it appears blue.
Love your bottle tree! I never heard of these until I “discovered” Felder Rushing a few years ago.
And you’re in Virginia, Entangled—the northern part of the South, to be sure, but still the South. Don’t they have bottles trees there? They’re pretty common around here, and I used to see them in S.C., where I was raised.
I’m hearing a lot of mention of Felder Rushing these days. He was at the Zilker Garden Festival a couple of weekends ago, but I missed seeing him unfortunately.
