Yet another Austin garden blog

September 06, 2006

Reading a comment on R. Sorrell’s blog, I discovered that there’s a new garden blogger in town, with a lovely, in-full-bloom garden. Newcomer Susan, of South of the River, lives and blogs in South Austin—that’s Zanthan territory. (M. Sinclair Stevens, you’re not alone south of the river anymore.)
Susan has some great photos of her tropical-looking garden, which, amazingly, has survived not only Austin’s terrible drought but major construction on her house plus benign neglect. How does she do it? Inquiring minds want to know.
My only quibble is that non-eBlogger bloggers cannot comment on her site. Susan, please open the door to the rest of us. We’d like to visit and chat a while.

  1. Great find, Pam. Thanks for the link.

  2. Pam, being on Blogspot, I could comment – told her about the communication problem and linked to this post. Pretty cool, indeed.

Pam — Thanks for the kind words about my garden. I got Annie’s comment and have changed the settings on the blog so I hope that solves the commenting problem. As I told her, I’ve been enjoying your blog as well as the others from Austin (and elsewhere) for a couple of months and certainly that inspired my own decision to start blogging. I’m especially interested in the Austin-based sites — until the last few days I would have said because misery loves company but maybe now I’ll be able to live vicariously through everyone’s fall gardening adventures. And maybe you all can help me solve some of my various gardening dilemmas.
I’ll post some of my thoughts about why the garden survived so well through the construction and resulting neglect. And maybe I’ll post some pics of the parts that don’t look so good!!
“And maybe I’ll post some pics of the parts that don’t look so good!!” Yes, that is surely the hardest—and bravest—thing one can blog about (see Zanthan this week). I look forward to reading about, and seeing, the good, the bad, and the ugly. 😉 –Pam
