Chicago, here we come!

September 30, 2008

Mr. McGregor’s Daughter and the Chicagoland bloggers have set the date for the Garden Bloggers Spring Fling 2009! Fellow garden bloggers, mark your calenders for May 29-31.

I fully expect that the 2nd annual Fling will be bigger and better than when we Austinites kicked things off last year, and I can’t wait to attend. Chicago is a vibrant city with a first-class botanical garden, not to mention a Piet Oudolf-designed public garden, Lurie Garden, pictured above. As in Austin, a large number of garden bloggers call the area home.

I’m on Cloud Nine (and “Cloud Gate,” above) knowing that the Fling is in capable hands and will bring the garden-blogging community together again soon. If you missed it last time, well, don’t make the same mistake twice. If you joined us in Austin, I’m sure I’ll see you in Chicago, because we know exactly how wonderful the Fling was and will be again.
Thanks in advance, MMD, Rosemarie, Rachel, Linda, et al, for hosting next year. Anticipation and making travel plans will keep us happy this winter.

  4. Hi Pam,
Thank you for stopping by our blog and taking the time to leave a comment. I LOVE your photography – it’s very inspirational. And thanks for the tip on comments, I’ve since made the changes you suggested!
And best wishes on your upcoming move.

Hi, Chloe. Thanks for the photography compliment, and right back at ya. Your pics are just gorgeous. I look forward to reading and seeing more of both of your gardens. Cheers! —Pam

  5. I don’t think there are as many Chicago area garden bloggers as Austin garden bloggers and none of us have been blogging anywhere near as long as some of you. Thanks for the vote of confidence. You’ve set the bar very high & we have a lot of work to be able to live up to expectations.
It was a team of four Austin bloggers who organized the Fling last year, and you’ve got at least that many working on the Chicago Fling, MMD. No worries—you’re going to do great. No matter what you put together, the best part will be the personal connections made and friendships renewed. And for that, all you need is a room or garden to throw us all in together. 😉 —Pam

  6. Robin says:

Maybe I’ll be able to attend this one since it is such a short distance from me. I’ll put the date on the calender and hope for the best!
I don’t see how you could bear to miss it, being so close this time, Robin. I hope to meet you there. —Pam
