Spontaneous combustion

‘Helvola’ water lily
It has been so hot for the past week—with more upper 90s to come—that it seems the garden will either crisp or spontaneously combust. This water lily looks as if it has chosen the latter, as seen with sunlight shining through it.
A monarch practices its “bat hang” on a blue mistflower.
It’s hot, and the earth is parched. It’s July. What else can I say.
I love water lilies. My husband has purchased almost everything we need for a little pond in the back yard, he just needs to dig the hole. Rather, he needs one of his little brothers to come over and dig it for him. I can’t wait.
I look forward to seeing photos of it. Please document the process so I can learn how to do it!
